This stop motion animated video was created as a response to this year’s RSA moving pictures brief for the ambitious cities audio. The audio is of Kate Raworth an economist who has developed the concept ‘doughnut economy’ which highlights how cities’ growth creates lots of problems and that we need to live more consciously about our actions. The audio relates to this concept that we can thrive in cities while still letting/helping nature thrive. That cities and nature are connected. The aim of this project is to show how past and current actions in growing cities have an impact on the nature around them. To encourage people to think more about the way we live and how we can change to impact the planet for the good of nature and cities both to thrive and work together as they both rely on each other. I wanted to highlight that everyone’s actions cause an impact and show how long-lasting those actions are. The actions of those from 100 years ago have contributed to the climate crisis we have now and what we do now will still impact the planet in 100 years' time. I chose collage as it is usually done using found images and resources you already have to create new images. This represents how we need to use the resources we already have and to stop creating more waste in the world.
